Jesus said to the crowds: "To what shall I compare the people of this generation? What are they like? They are like children who sit in the marketplace and call to one another, 'We played the flute for you, but you did not dance. We sang a dirge, but you did not weep.'"
Gospel's Commentary
Today Jesus no longer knows what to say about those people: they were never satisfied! The underlying problem was that they thought they knew better than everyone else: they criticized John the Baptist because he fasted; they criticized Jesus because He ate… So which is it?
—Unfortunately, centuries later there are still plenty of “bores” who try to lecture God. And, of course, they spend all day complaining with funeral faces.
