A man came up to Jesus, knelt down before him, and said, "Lord, have pity on my son, who is a lunatic and suffers severely."
Gospel's Commentary
Today the Gospel gives us a very important detail that sometimes goes unnoticed. That man approached Jesus Christ by kneeling down. In some places, “kneeling” is no longer in fashion. How curious! We have lost this healthy habit, one that is uniquely human. In fact, man is never more fully human than when he kneels.
—Conclusion: that father immediately obtained what he was asking for while on his knees. Of course! When we treat God as God, then we allow God to act as God.
