"For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. What profit would there be for one to gain the whole world and forfeit his life?"
Gospel's Commentary
Today Jesus speaks to us about “life” and “Life.” What does that mean? Our “life” makes sense in light of “Life” with a capital L—eternity. This is a very useful idea for our times, when we are so prone to losing our heads chasing after the latest trend. The problem is that trends come and go… and we run the risk of living according to fashion without leaving behind a personal history.
—We too will pass away. But if someone lives only by what is fashionable…, it will be uncomfortable to appear before “Life” without a “résumé.”
