“You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments.”
Gospel's Commentary
Today Jesus is put to the test and questioned to see whether He will say something “new.” And surprise! What Jesus Christ brings is fresh, but not new. As the Son of the Father, He raises the Law and the Prophets toward a new horizon: being children of God!
—God is not the “god” we invent for ourselves. Jesus reveals Him to us as a Father who begs for love among His children and requires us to love one another as brothers.
