Parables of Jesus: The Wedding Banquet

Parables of Jesus: The Wedding Banquet
Thursday of the Twentieth Week in Ordinary Time
Gospel text
Mt 22:1-14
“The Kingdom of heaven may be likened to a king who gave a wedding feast for his son. He dispatched his servants to summon the invited guests to the feast, but they refused to come."
Gospel's Commentary
Today Jesus presents to us that God who calls everyone, and yet many seem to run away. In the end, God even goes out “to the crossroads” so that no one is left without an invitation. God is good, patient, merciful… But because He is good, He is also just: no one can enter His eternal Home without a “wedding garment.” —The point is simple: Heaven is a place of Love. The lazy, the selfish, the rich man who lives only for himself would be bored there. Worse still, he cannot stand the very idea of Heaven!
