Material detachment and following Christ

Material detachment and following Christ
Tuesday of the Twentieth Week in Ordinary Time
Gospel text
Mt 19:23-30
Jesus said to his disciples: “Amen, I say to you, it will be hard for one who is rich to enter the Kingdom of heaven."
Gospel's Commentary
Today Jesus leaves His listeners astonished: “Who then can be saved?” Another equation to solve! Riches—in themselves—are not the problem, since God Himself is the one who provides us with resources. The problem lies with the rich person, that is, the one who goes through life “acting rich.” —And what happens to the “rich” person? His heart sees only things. And people? He does not see them… and if he does, it is only to take advantage of them, treating them as competitors or suppliers.
