The rich young man: True wealth is not in material possessions, but in following Jesus

The rich young man: True wealth is not in material possessions, but in following Jesus
Monday of the Twentieth Week in Ordinary Time
Gospel text
Mt 19:16-22
A young man approached Jesus and said, “Teacher, what good must I do to gain eternal life?”
Gospel's Commentary
Today the Gospel presents the dialogue between Jesus Christ and the rich young man. Many times, we ourselves are that young man. On the one hand, we feel a longing for eternal happiness. Can happiness really be “complete” if it has no horizon of eternity? If my happiness is going to end in a few years, even if they are many years, then… That is why the young man is concerned about eternal life. —On the other hand, we find it hard to “let go of our baggage.” We want to live forever, but while clinging to earthly possessions. So how do we solve this “equation”? Let us listen to what Christ says!
