“Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?” And stretching out his hand toward his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of my heavenly Father is my brother, and sister, and mother.”
Gospel's Commentary
Today Mary wants to see her Son… but she cannot, because the house is packed with people listening to Him. At first glance, Jesus’ response sounds like a slight against His Mother. But it is exactly the opposite!
—Christ praises His Mother for what matters most in a good child of God: obedience to the divine will. Do you remember the words with which the Virgin Mary answered the Archangel Gabriel?
