Jesus predicts His passion for the second time; the disciples do not understand Him

Jesus predicts His passion for the second time; the disciples do not understand Him
Saturday of the Twenty-fifth Week in Ordinary Time
Gospel text
Lk 9:43b-45
But they did not understand this saying; its meaning was hidden from them so that they should not understand it, and they were afraid to ask him about this saying.
Gospel's Commentary
Today we read that “everyone” was amazed at what Jesus was doing. But they did not accept Christ’s announcement of His Passion. Simon Peter did not understand it either. And we have not changed! We are still slaves to success! We like to succeed… but without too much effort. In other words, we like success simply because success feels “good.” But we want nothing to do with anything “unpleasant” (sacrifice). Freedom without commitment, free love (with divorce), a peaceful life (even with abortion, if that were the most “prudent” solution)… —Jesus without the Cross… A “jester-god,” a “convenient god,” a “god” made to my measure… There is no trace of eternity here. A “god” like that comes with an expiration date.
