Jesus accompanied by the Apostles and some women who were attending to them

Jesus accompanied by the Apostles and some women who were attending to them
Friday of the Twenty-fourth Week in Ordinary Time
Gospel text
Lk 8:1-3
Jesus journeyed from one town and village to another, preaching and proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom of God. Accompanying him were the Twelve and some women (...) who provided for them out of their resources.
Gospel's Commentary
Today an important subject comes up: already twenty centuries ago, Jesus Christ counted on women. He relied very particularly on their cooperation and showed great respect for femininity. In those days, women hardly counted at all. They could not even act as witnesses in a trial. With Jesus, things began to change… —Who supported Jesus at Calvary? Who was at the tomb for His burial? Whom did the Lord find there when He rose? Do you need more questions? God is not the one who is behind the times—men are!
