The donation of the poor widow: Jesus asks us to be generous

The donation of the poor widow: Jesus asks us to be generous
Monday of the Thirty-fourth Week in Ordinary Time
Gospel text
Lk 21:1-4
When Jesus looked up he saw some wealthy people putting their offerings into the treasury and he noticed a poor widow putting in two small coins. He said, “I tell you truly, this poor widow put in more than all the rest."
Gospel's Commentary
Today we feel Jesus’s proximity: He sees everything! Nothing escapes His loving gaze. No one noticed that poor woman, much less her donation. No one! But Jesus is captivated by her. What she has given is a "treasure" for God. -Where is the "trick"? The others gave "those others have all made offerings... but she, from her poverty, has offered her whole livelihood." Simply EVERYTHING, that is, herself. Before God quantity doesn’t count, but yourself!
