Gospel text Jn 18:33b-37
So Pilate said to him, "Then you are a king?" Jesus answered, "You say I am a king."
Gospel's Commentary
Today, the Gospel reminds us of the dramatic interrogation to which Pontius Pilate subjected Jesus. To the questions of the Roman governor, Jesus answered affirming that he was King, but not of this world. He did not come to dominate over nations and territories, but to free men from the slavery to sin and to reconcile them with God. Jesus has the divine power to give eternal life.
