Thursday of the Thirty-second Week in Ordinary Time
Gospel text Lk 17:20-25
Asked by the Pharisees when the Kingdom of God would come, Jesus said in reply, “The coming of the Kingdom of God cannot be observed, and no one will announce, ‘Look, here it is’."
Gospel's Commentary
Today we have another unintelligent question, this time from the Pharisees. It is the typical question of human curiosity forgetting the essential. The important is not "when" but "what is". Among other things, because the Kingdom of Heaven is already initiated among us, discreetly, silently: the Church, the sacraments, the Word of God, the faithful ... Isn't that enough? If Jesus hadn’t come ...
- Jesus has come and brought us what’s fundamental: God. So, what about wars? hunger? injustices? That happens because God has come and we haven’t followed him!
