Thursday of the Twenty-fifth Week in Ordinary Time
Gospel text Lk 9:7-9
Herod the tetrarch heard about all that was happening, and he was greatly perplexed because some were saying, “John has been raised from the dead”; others were saying, “Elijah has appeared”; still others, “One of the ancient prophets has arisen.” But Herod said, “John I beheaded. Who then is this about whom I hear such things?” And he kept trying to see him.
Gospel's Commentary
Today we meet another person looking for a “clown-god.” He had his concerns… But he never got beyond the level of esoteric curiosity. Very current! A completely confused mind.
—He wanted to see Him! Would it not be better to “follow Him”? When a person does not see his neighbor—because he kills him, tramples on him, criticizes him, ignores him…—he does not see God either.
