Wednesday of the Twenty-fifth Week in Ordinary Time
Gospel text Lk 9:1-6
Jesus summoned the Twelve and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them to proclaim the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick. He said to them, "Take nothing for the journey..."
Gospel's Commentary
Today Jesus Christ sends the Apostles to preach. "Today" means 2,000 years ago and also "our days": every Christian – each one baptized - has the honor of being another Christ, that is, another apostle. And the slogans for the mission are the same: we must rely primarily on the strength of Jesus Christ.
- And the staff, the saddlebags, the bread, the silver, the tunics? But what do you think this is about? Tourist? Apostle? More junk, less speed!
