Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come from Nazareth?”
Gospel's Commentary
Today we celebrate St. Bartholomew (Nathanael), one of the twelve Apostles. How curious some things are! Nathanael did skate on thin ice by speaking badly of Nazareth, the town of the Virgin. But Jesus received him with the greatest kindness: "Here truly is an Israelite in whom there is no deceit." What praise! God is so kind! Nathanael does not know Jesus: he does not even know where He was born. But Jesus, on the other hand, does know Nathanael. And He knows him well!
-A good advice from Philip! "Come and you will see Him!"... Nathanael went, saw and "surrendered": "Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel." With so little he "surrendered" to God. And you? Do you need much?
