Jesus said to him in reply, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father. And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church."
Gospel's Commentary
Today Jesus has asked the Apostles if they know who He is. As usual, Peter jumps to answer first, and this time he guesses it right (we can see he has been inspired from heaven): "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." And with that, Peter receives the primacy of the Church ... He becomes the first pope!
-It's worth it to "provoke" Jesus: for no one can beat Him in generosity!
