”John answered them, “I baptize with water; but there is one among you whom you do not recognize, the one who is coming after me, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to untie.”
Gospel's Commentary
Today we hear the wonderful testimony that John the Baptist gives of the Lord. John was a saint and some thought he was the Messiah. But he answered that he was the prophet who should prepare Jesus’ preaching: "Make straight the way for the Lord"; repent and get ready to receive him.
-Things are just like this: the son of God comes to save us, noiselessly, without impositions. Let us be prepared!
