Jesus scolds the unjust Pharisees: one must be faithful in small things

Jesus scolds the unjust Pharisees: one must be faithful in small things
Saturday of the Thirty-first Week in Ordinary Time
Gospel text
Lk 16:9-15
Jesus said to his disciples, "(...) The person who is trustworthy in very small matters is also trustworthy in great ones (...). No servant can serve two masters."
Gospel's Commentary
Today Jesus Christ leads us toward faithful love. How? Through little things! God Himself, though so great, made Himself "small." In Bethlehem, in the Eucharist… And on the Cross He remained "small." "Let him come down from the cross now, and we will believe in him." Jesus did not come down! He preferred to remain small. —When man "neglects" his faith—for example, when he stops going to Mass—almost without realizing it, he gradually pushes God aside, like a "decorative vase": "I do not deny You, but I no longer need You." In the end, he denies Him: "You no longer exist." And eventually man "neglects" other people too—family, colleagues… Conclusion: God or nothing!
