Jesus condemns hypocrisy and emphasizes the importance of knowing my heart before judging others

Jesus condemns hypocrisy and emphasizes the importance of knowing my heart before judging others
Friday of the Twenty-third Week in Ordinary Time
Gospel text
Lk 6:39-42
Jesus told his disciples a parable: "Why do you notice the splinter in your brother’s eye, but do not perceive the wooden beam in your own?"
Gospel's Commentary
Today we hear the parable of the blind man leading another blind man… Both will fall into the same pit. Very timely! We live in an age when we go through life acting “bold,” yet we are often quite enslaved by fashions—clothes, toys, cars… To be a leader capable of helping others, it is good to be “critical” and demanding with oneself. —“If you do not have a friend who corrects you, pay an enemy to do it.”
