Jesus calms the storm: we must have faith and not despair in the face of difficulties

Jesus calms the storm: we must have faith and not despair in the face of difficulties
Tuesday of the Thirteenth Week in Ordinary Time
Gospel text
Mt 8:23-27
They came and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!” He said to them, “Why are you terrified, O you of little faith?”
Gospel's Commentary
Today the Apostles are in a boat in the middle of a storm. Jesus is with them, but He is asleep. In desperation, they wake Him: we are going to drown! The Lord of heaven and sea “rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.” —“Why are you afraid?” The question still stands. Jesus “sleeps” in the Eucharist, in the quiet intimacy of our churches. Jesus “sleeps,” but God sees everything and is present in everything. If this were not so, the boat of the Church would have disappeared centuries ago. Isn’t that true?
