November 2nd: The Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed
Gospel text Lk 23:33.39-43
He replied to him, “Amen, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”
Gospel's Commentary
Today we see the "good thief" (Dismas) who, finding himself with "empty hands" and about to die, says: «Jesus, remember me when you arrive to your kingdom». A beautiful request and a good lesson for us: if we are poor in spirit we will put ourselves in the hands of God. Only He can purify me to reach Heaven. -Jesus, forgive me, excuse the times I have displeased You ... Dismas asks for a "kingdom" and Jesus guarantees him the best of all kingdoms: Paradise.
-Jesus gives Himself for all of us and we ask for Paradise for ALL those who have already gone. Someday you will also "go out" and you will want others to help you by asking for Paradise for you.
