Jesus began to teach them, saying: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven."
Gospel's Commentary
Today the Church honors—celebrates—all those people who have already crossed the boundary of time and are now “living” in the eternal peace of Heaven. Our ancestors, relatives, and dear friends are there! And they are waiting for us! But where is “there”? What is this “there” like? Saint Paul tells us that no one has seen or imagined what God has prepared for those who love Him.
—Imagine a world in which God is “all in all,” where everyone admires the greatness of God and thinks of others: that is the world of the poor in spirit! Precisely those who do not go through life acting like “self-sufficient show-offs.”
