A Canaanite woman of that district came and called out, “Have pity on me, Lord, Son of David! My daughter is tormented by a demon.” ...He said in reply, “It is not right to take the food of the children and throw it to the dogs.” She said, “Please, Lord, for even the dogs eat the scraps that fall from the table of their masters.”
Gospel's Commentary
Today the Master teaches us that it is very important to persevere in prayer. Like that Canaanite woman: Jesus seems not to pay attention to her, but she humbly persists. Perhaps at times you may think that before God you are like a “little dog”: do not give up! Pray! Ask!
—The disciples thought the Canaanite woman was a nuisance and wanted to get rid of her. Jesus, however, was won over by her!
