Wednesday of the Twenty-fourth Week in Ordinary Time
Gospel text Lk 7,31-35
The Lord said, «What comparison can I use for this people? What are they like? They are like children sitting in the marketplace, about whom their companions complain: ‘We piped you a tune and you wouldn't dance; we sang funeral songs and you wouldn't cry’».
Gospel's Commentary
Today Jesus no longer has words to say about those people: they were never happy! The problem is that they thought they were smarter: they criticized John the Baptist because he fasted; criticized Jesus because he ate ... Which is it then?
"Unfortunately, over the centuries the “tiresome” people who give lessons to God still abound. And they spend the day complaining with that annoying face, of course.
