New wine, new wineskins

Today Jesus Christ, with the skill of a good teacher, warns us about the danger of becoming inwardly comfortable. Sometimes we get used to simply “getting by,” living by routine, without taking risks (“I already go to Mass,” “I already fulfill my duties,” …). We also need renewal in the spiritual life! —Life changes, and what nourished my soul years ago may now put it to sleep. On your wedding day, are you going to “dress” the way you did for your First Communion? No, right? Then before God, why do you demand of yourself only what you would demand of a child—even less—and not of a man?
