Jesus tells us: "The one who loses his life for my sake will find it"

Jesus tells us: "The one who loses his life for my sake will find it"
Friday of the Eighteenth Week in Ordinary Time
Gospel text
Mt 16:24-28
"For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. What profit would there be for one to gain the whole world and forfeit his life?"
Gospel's Commentary
Today, Jesus talks to us about life now and life forever with God. Our life now is important, but it only makes sense when we remember that one day we will live forever with God. Sometimes people try really hard to be cool or follow what’s popular, like wearing the newest clothes or playing the newest games. But those things don’t last—they come and go. If we only try to be cool, we might forget what really matters. One day, we’ll see Jesus. He won’t ask if we were the coolest. He’ll want to know if we were kind, loving, and if we followed Him. That’s what really matters and what lasts forever.
