Jesus in the temple with the chief priests

Jesus in the temple with the chief priests
Monday of the Third Week of Advent
Gospel text
Mt 21:23-27
“By what authority are you doing these things? And who gave you this authority?”
Gospel's Commentary
Today the chief priests and the elders of the Temple of Jerusalem confront Jesus. Shortly, previously, the Lord had driven out those who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves, who had installed themselves at the entrance with the permission of the chiefs’ priests of the Temple. Jesus reacted so strongly because the Temple is the House of God; Jesus Christ does not tolerate seeing His Father's House converted into a market. -Jesus’ authority is God's authority. Jesus commands silence and respect in the House of His Father-God.
