Jesus to the Pharisees: Heaven is for everyone, especially for the poor

Jesus to the Pharisees: Heaven is for everyone, especially for the poor
Monday of the Thirty-first Week in Ordinary Time
Gospel text
Lk 14:12-14
"When you hold a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind; blessed indeed will you be because of their inability to repay you. For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous."
Gospel's Commentary
Today, Jesus’ words may seem incongruous to us. What kind of banquet is this? Besides, if I organize a banquet it is to enjoy it now, not in eternal life... However, Jesus Christ’s words are wise: do we deserve the banquet of the Eucharist? What kind of "friend" would I be if I only did favors that may “appeal” to me, or only when they can be returned? God is not like that! -We all are -without exception- very little in front of God. Fortunately, His House is open especially for the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind ... If it were not so, could I get in?
