Friday of the Twenty-first Week in Ordinary Time
Gospel text
Mt 25:1-13
“The Kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish and five were wise. The foolish ones, when taking their lamps, brought no oil with them, but the wise brought flasks of oil with their lamps..."
Gospel's Commentary
Today Jesus speaks again about the future. In particular, the future that awaits us as human beings. We are the only species capable of reflecting about the future. However, we forget our humanness and often ignore that reflection ability, as if this life were eternal. -The drama for the "careless bridesmaids" is that full happiness, the eternal one, depends on our use of time: they slept! ... and didn’t arrive in time.
