A young man approached Jesus and said, “Teacher, what good must I do to gain eternal life?”
Gospel's Commentary
Today’s Gospel presents us with a dialogue between Jesus Christ and a wealthy young man. In many occasions, this young man represents us. On one hand, we feel the need for eternal happiness. Can happiness be total if it doesn't have a horizon for eternity? If my happiness is going to end in a few years, then...That is why this man worries about eternal life.
- On the other hand it’s hard to "dump ballast". We want to be eternal, but tied to our earthly possessions. How do we solve this equation? Let us hear what Christ has to say.
