Parables of Jesus: The house on the rock

Parables of Jesus: The house on the rock
Thursday of the Twelfth Week in Ordinary Time
Gospel text
Mt 7:21-29
"Everyone who listens to these words of mine but does not act on them will be like a fool who built his house on sand. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. And it collapsed and was completely ruined.”
Gospel's Commentary
Today the Sermon on the Mount comes to an end. The crowd listens to Jesus with amazement and delight, but some people are like the riverbanks of the great rivers that flow down from the Himalayas: for centuries water has passed over them, yet inside they remain dry. Jesus knows that if we do not welcome His words and put them into practice, we are setting ourselves up for failure—failure in our lives, in our families, and in society. —He does not want us to fail. That is why He so strongly insists that we build on rock. Thank You, Jesus!
