Gospel text
Mk 7:24-30
She replied and said to him, “Lord, even the dogs under the table eat the children’s scraps.” Then he said to her, “For saying this, you may go. The demon has gone out of your daughter.”
Gospel's Commentary
Today Jesus can be seen speaking to a foreign woman. She has been long after Him, He even seems to not be paying much attention to her… We are puzzled! She insists and, in the end, Jesus gives her what seems to be a harsh answer: “It is not right to take the food of the children and throw it to the dogs.” What follows is a beautiful reaction from a mother, pumped with humility: -I know you are right Lord, but do help me; you can help me! -Do not confront God, but you can insist with humility: you will gain Him for your cause!
