When the days were completed for their purification... they took him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord.
Gospel's Commentary
Today, the Child Jesus celebrates 40 days. Jewish families went to the temple to offer God the first fruit of their marriage, their first child. But to be able to return to their homes with their son, the Law of Moses allowed to leave an animal in the temple as an offering.
- Mary and Joseph fulfill the duties of their Jewish religion: they go to the Temple. There they left a little bird to "rescue" Jesus. But Holy Mary knew that Jesus himself would be sacrificed to rescue the world, actually.
