Gospel text
Mt 12:38-42
Some of the scribes and Pharisees said to Jesus, “Teacher, we wish to see a sign from you.” He said to them in reply, “An evil and unfaithful generation seeks a sign, but no sign will be given it except the sign of Jonah the prophet."
Gospel's Commentary
Today we hear from Jesus an answer that fits like "a glove on the hand." When we pray little we become materialistic, and then we only accept as true what can be touched. Not only. We also expect God to adapt Himself to this stupid way of thinking. But we cannot touch the "sign of Jonah" (the resurrection of Christ)... We can accept it! "The materialist would be willing to accept a God who proves that he is God. But such a God is no longer God, but a clown. Where do you want to go: to Heaven or to the circus?
