The Sermon on the Mount: Jesus asks us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us

The Sermon on the Mount: Jesus asks us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us
Tuesday of the Eleventh Week in Ordinary Time
Gospel text
Mt 5:43-48
Jesus said to his disciples: “You have heard that it was said, you shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your heavenly Father, for he makes his sun rise on the bad and the good."
Gospel's Commentary
Today Jesus transmits to us the "embrace of God". In Jesus Christ, we discover the heart of God, of a God who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He is all love! With a Love that loves all of us. Although there were "enemies" of Jesus Christ, He never had anyone as an enemy (it was their problem, not His). -Do you have an enemy?
