Jesus affirms that God is a God of the living, not the dead

Jesus affirms that God is a God of the living, not the dead
Wednesday of the Ninth Week in Ordinary Time
Gospel text
Mk 12:18-27
Some Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Jesus...
Gospel's Commentary
Today the discussions with Jesus continue. Now it is the Sadducees. They were the oddest: they formed a religious group, who believed in God but not in the Resurrection. God without resurrection? God without eternity? So, what kind of "God" is this? What good is this "God" for? Such Sadducees were so wrong that when they asked Jesus an absurd question Jesus directly told them: "You are greatly misled." —Quite right too! Without horizons of eternity love is not possible. Therefore, "I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? He is not God of the dead but of the living."
