Gospel text
Mt 18:21—19:1
"You wicked servant! I forgave you your entire debt because you begged me to. Should you not have had pity on your fellow servant, as I had pity on you?"
Gospel's Commentary
Today Jesus insists again on forgiveness. It is a basic subject! There goes our peace! Humanly speaking, we cannot live without forgiving. To deny our forgiveness to whoever apologizes to us is like forcing him to remain indebted to us; it is just like keeping him enslaved. - And from a supernatural point of view, that is, from the vision of God, it is totally ridiculous not to forgive our brothers when it turns out God has forgiven me infinitely more.
