The Sermon on the Mount: “For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be”

The Sermon on the Mount: “For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be”
Friday of the Eleventh Week in Ordinary Time
Gospel text
Mt 6:19-23
Jesus said to his disciples: “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and decay destroy, and thieves break in and steal."
Gospel's Commentary
Today Jesus gives us a very practical advice: do not treat the things of this life as a treasure. We tend to accumulate many things that in the end we do not know where to put them. It is true that we need things to live, but what we need over everything is love. Someday God will call us to heaven: what treasures will I find there? "Look! Jesus has remained on earth, hidden in the Eucharist. He is present in many churches. He is everywhere! Could He do it if He had many things?
