Jesus said to his disciples: "It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you."
Gospel's Commentary
Today we celebrate a "special" Apostle. He was the substitute for Judas Iscariot, the one who betrayed Jesus. The Lord wanted to forgive Judas and keep him in the group of Apostles ... but Judas refused. Then they had to choose another one when Jesus Christ had already ascended to Heaven ... How to know who was chosen by God? It is narrated in the "Acts of the Apostles": they selected two candidates, they prayed for them and drew lots. And the "luck" -God- pointed to Matthias.
-Curious method! Hopefully if we use it for our affairs: thinking, praying and leaving it in the hands of God.
