Wednesday of the Thirty-fourth Week in Ordinary Time
Gospel text
Lk 21,12-19
«People will lay their hands on you and persecute you; you will be delivered to the Jewish courts and put in prison, and for my sake you will be brought before kings and governors. This will be your opportunity to bear witness».
Gospel's Commentary
Today Jesus-prophet prepares us for the path. It was not the first time He warned us about the tribulations (misunderstandings, persecutions ...) that would come-and have come- over time. No one has ever been persecuted as Jesus Christ and his disciples! St. Paul himself persecuted us to death. But, "Trust me, I have overcome the world." - Why does God allow so much persecution? Only He knows it, but we glimpse in it a great Love: how much Patience! How much Mercy! And this is how God overcomes the world. We can also do it: «By your perseverance you will secure your lives». Martyr’s blood, seed of Christians!
