Wednesday of the Twenty-eighth Week in Ordinary Time
Gospel text
Lk 11:42-46
“Woe to you Pharisees! You pay tithes of mint and of rue and of every garden herb, but you pay no attention to judgment and to love for God. These you should have done, without overlooking the others."
Gospel's Commentary
Today, the Divine Shepherd complains because those "false shepherds" –the Pharisees and doctors of the law– performed and complied, but did not love. Jesus, the Good Shepherd, takes charge of the flock. In the same manner, good parents ought to be good role models: examples lead people; good educators make the effort to live the virtues they teach. This is connection. Not only with a finger, but putting one's life on the line. –Less theory, and more action! Great souls are great because they put love into the small things.
