Friday of the Twenty-eighth Week in Ordinary Time
Gospel text
Lk 12,1-7
Such a numerous crowd had gathered (...). Then Jesus spoke «I tell you, my friends, do not fear those who put to death the body and after that can do no more (...). Even the hairs of your head have been numbered. So do not fear».
Gospel's Commentary
Today Jesus wants to give us peace and hope. He knows that in our lives there will be difficulties, even facing some of those who “put to death the body”, that is, people who can mistreat or despise us. Jesus encourages us: "Do not fear, they can do no more." - They can do no more because the Risen Lord is always present. And because he lives resurrected, not one of us falls into oblivion before Him. You do not know how many hairs you have; Jesus does!
