So the other disciples said to him, “We have seen the Lord.” But Thomas said to them, “Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands and put my finger into the nailmarks and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”
Gospel's Commentary
Today we hear Thomas’ answer when the other Apostles tell him that they have seen the risen Jesus. God does not deserve Thomas’ answer! “Touch,” “touch,” and “touch”: we men have fallen into the obsession that, unless we touch, we will not believe. But what kind of God do we want to have? A doll? A pet?
—When it comes to God, is it not more fitting to answer: “My Lord and my God”?
