October 5th: Memorial of Saint Faustina Kowalska, Virgin
Gospel text Jn 15:1-8
Jesus said to his disciples: “I am the true vine, and my Father is the vine grower. He takes away every branch in me that does not bear fruit, and everyone that does he prunes so that it bears more fruit."
Gospel's Commentary
Today is the feast of St. Faustina Kowalska. Jesus Christ chose her as His “Secretary” to spread the Divine Mercy Devotion. Sister Faustina generously offered her life in atonement for the sins of Mankind and for the salvation of souls. God accepted her offer and, in fact, St. Faustina died affected by many pains she patiently and discreetly suffered for years.
—"Do what you will with me, oh Jesus. Only give me the strength to suffer. Since your strength supports me, I shall bear everything. Oh Souls, how much I love them" (St. Faustina).
