Gospel's Commentary
Today we celebrate the feast of Saint George (255/80-303), secondary patron saint of Catalonia. He was a brave knight, probably martyred in Lydda, Israel. He changed his trade as a soldier officer for the profession with the Christian militia. Revered since the 4th century, several countries and regions have chosen him as their patron: Greece, England, Portugal, Lithuania, Georgia, Genoa ... In the 13th century his devotion entered Catalonia and Aragon, who also chose him as patron. —We glorify, Lord, your power and we humbly ask that, as Saint George was an imitator of the passion of your Son, he will be also protector for our weakness.
