January 3rd: Memorial of the Most Holy Name of Jesus
Gospel text
Lk 2:21-24
When eight days were completed for his circumcision, He was named Jesus, the name given Him by the angel before He was conceived in the womb(…).
Gospel's Commentary
Today we celebrate the Name of Jesus itself. It's not a small thing! Each human being is unique and unrepeatable; each one is loved by God in a unique way. This is why the proper name that represents each one and with which we are called is so important. "My name", that of each one, has a sacred value. They named the Redeemer ... like us (on the day of our baptism). -In the "Our Father" Jesus teaches us to say "hallowed be thy Name". I hope it's true!
