Gospel text
Mt 24:42-51
Jesus said to his disciples: “Stay awake! For you do not know on which day your Lord will come... So too, you also must be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come."
Gospel's Commentary
Today the Lord speaks to us about something we usually don’t think about ... We frequently ask ourselves: what do I want? And yet, it is more fundamental to ask: what do I live for? What is my destiny? Don’t fall asleep! Don’t say "my lord is late ", because the Lord finally arrives for all of us. - The "weeping and gnashing of teeth" represents the danger of falling asleep and being late. In a world far away from God and therefore from love, it feels pretty cold, to the point of causing the "gnashing of teeth ".
