Francesc Badia
Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time (B)
Gospel text
Jn 6,24-35
“I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst.”
Gospel's Commentary
Today Jesus opens the Jews’ eyes. They were proud because Moses made bread rain from heaven to feed them in the Sinai desert. But Jesus reminds them that, in reality, it was His Father who “gave” them that bread. Moreover, that “rain of bread” continues: it is Jesus himself! He certainly has come down from heaven, sent by God. —God, through His son Jesus, has become delicate bread in order to be divided and shared among all of us. Open your eyes!
