Gospel text
Mt 13:31-35
“The Kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that a person took and sowed in a field. It is the smallest of all the seeds, yet when full-grown it is the largest of plants."
Gospel's Commentary
Today Jesus shows another characteristic of his Kingdom: humility, prudence. In fact, God Himself was born small and died "small." The Church was born small and should remain humble. The Empire (Rome), its Emperor (Caesar Augustus), the King (Herod), the Governor (Pontius Pilate), were much greater... - But over the centuries, the "Parable of the Mustard Seed" has been fulfilled: of those "great ones" there is nothing left; Jesus Christ, instead, is alive and living everywhere.
